claire_evans Posted June 3, 2020 Posted June 3, 2020 I am trying to insert a standard Word section break into an individual report so that I can include a landscape page at the end of a portrait report. When I preview the report I get an error message (can’t remember exact wording and not logged in to check but it is a pop-up window and the report subsequently fails to display). Is this a known issue? Is there a fix?
Pink_Panda Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 Hi there it's been a while since I had to mess about changing the orientation in reports, but I remember that it was quite time consuming. Without the error message I'm also not too sure what is wrong, but this is what I did at the time: First of all, I'd recommend taking out the section break that you inserted, making sure that your report runs alright, and then cloning it and working with the copy. Individual report templates are easily corrupted, and you'll have to re-do it all again if it does! I remember that my report was the other way round to yours, my first page was landscape, the following pages portrait. First page was a table with ATL scores and then the legend underneath. To get round it changing the orientation between pages, I inserted a continuous section break between table and legend, then after the legend a next page section break. I then changed the orientation of the next page to portrait. Also make sure there is enough room on that page, it might look like it all fits, but you might have to play around with font sizes to make things work. It's a lot of trial and error unfortunately, but I think it's got to do with adding the right section breaks and having enough room on the page. Hope this helps, but someone else might have a better solution
claire_evans Posted June 4, 2020 Author Posted June 4, 2020 Thanks so much. It was really helpful to know that it *can* work and I am not wasting my time playing around with it. There was clearly something in my template that was causing a problem, so I just started from scratch using a blank template, adding a bit at of formatting at a time and closing/checking periodically. It was all fine and is now working! Thanks again,
