[centos] Software Upgrade

Currently got a CentOS box that I have inherited and and its running PHPIPAM on it. I need to upgrade to the latest version, instructions as per here.

 

In the instructions:

[root@ipam /]# cd /var/www/phpipam
[root@ipam /var/www/phpipam]# tar -xvf phpipam-1.4.tar
[root@ipam /var/www/phpipam]# cp /backup/location/config.php /var/www

 

Mine appears to be installed at /var/www/html/phpipam. So would I browse to html or phpipam to run this?

 

Also if I am say at /var/www/html and I run wget https://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/phpipam/phpipam-1.4.tar that will download the file to that location?

 

Sorry my Linux isn't great so any assistance would be useful? Normally I would use a different distribution but that is what I have to work with!

First question is how was it installed originally, if it was via a package, update the package instead.

 

sudo yum list installed | grep -i phpipam

 

Doesn't seem like there's a package.

 

https://phpipam.net/news/phpipam-installation-on-centos-7/ has more specific instructions, in general you want to be in the same folder as it previously was in.

If it was a package it would of been easier to upgrade but its a manual install by the looks of it.

 

I will have a look next week when I am back in.

I managed to get this done yesterday, had to install the GET tool to enable to me to even download the file, though that was standard. After some yum issues manage to extract the file and then run the upgrade. Wasn't as straight forward as it could of been but literally ran the file and then did an inplace upgrade finished off on the web interface.

 

Cannot say I am a fan of CentOS, much prefer other versions of Linux.
