New HP Switches and mini-gbic modules

Just a word of warning if any of you are looking at upgrading to newer HP switches, the Revision A versions of their mini-gbic modules do not work in the newer switches such as the 2900 series and 5400 series. They won't swap them out for the updated versions either, which is annoying as 11 out of 12 of the modules we wanted to to use are revision A.

Confirm this is the case with a 2800-48G I had delivered last friday.

Shouldn't you be looking at replacing the gbic's anyway if you're replacing the switches?

Thanks, wish HP had pointed me in that direction before I'd purchased the new switches though

 

Also found it in their product data sheets, but it isn't mentioned in the tech specs etc on their website and wasn't mentioned by the HP bod when I spoke to him about the switches.

The main link is being upgraded to 10Gb and we had planned to use the existing 1Gb mini gbics for the fiber run to a new extension.
