Card readers and Biostore

Hi All,

 

We are looking to move away from fingerprint readers as we have had issues where fingerprints are not recognized and because of this there are delays in the queue. We are also use Invntry sign in system with RFID cards and Paxton so would like a solution that works with the printer we use with Inventory and was wondering whether people would be willing to share what systems they used and if any schools used Paxton with Biostore

I've used Biostore/Cunninghyams with finger print readers and Inventry with touch screen. I would think both are complete No-no's in the current situation. I'm not sure what else would work and reduce touch points - possibly there is a retina or facial recognition imaging system? From a GDPR perspective, they are all in the realm of bio-metric data and therefore special category data. In my experience, some people are less accepting of retina or facial imaging than fingerprint.

Thinking a little more about this. We also used RFID cards for PaperCut. A non-contact RFID card reader solution would seem like route worth looking at.

We've moved from a finger print system (Vericool) to a RFID system (Liveregister) for our cashless catering. We also use paxton/net2.

 

We had similar problems with long queues in the canteen, and frequent issues with the accuracy of the readers. Not to mention a fortune spent replacing the readers each year when they were damaged.

 

I'd recommend liveregister. They've been very helpful to work with, and we've not had many (i can't actually remember any) technical issues since putting it in. Its all just overdrafts and replacement fobs now.

I have spoken to Biostore and their system uses 1K Chip MiFare Card. Doe anyone that use Inventory's sign in system/Paxton know if those systems are compatible with 1K Chip MiFare Card?

Yes we use both inventry and Paxton net2 with 1k mifare cards. Only issue we had was with inventry as we use the ID card number in decimal format for our systems and inventry by default scanned in hexadecimal format but they got the scanners re-programmed for us.

 

You’ll need the mifare readers for Paxton though as I believe they are different to the dedicated Paxton card readers.
