device for working outside.

As the sun is shining thought I'd try working outside but it is very hard to see my chromebook screen.

 

Is it possible to find laptops / chromebooks that can be used well outside in bright sunlight ?

You'd need a device with a very large nit rating on the screen.

Pixelbook Go is about 370 nits max brightness, and generally the cheaper the device, the lower the maximum brightness.

thanks what about matt vs gloss screens, does that make a difference or is it a bit of a gimmik?

Matt will reflect less outside, definitely but getting matt screens seems to be harder these days.

Gloss screens will have more vivid looking colours though. It's a trade-off really.
