Students Registers / participation whilst remote learning

Going to be using teams and wondered if anyone had an novel/clever/wild ways of students registering that that have taken part in a lesson. We want to be able to follow up certain "meetings" with parents if students haven't attended.

 

Someone mentioned using an assisngment that was open for the entirety of lesson then students "viewed" which would show if they turned up or not. Seemed workable bit wondered if any better ideas?

You could have a simple Form within each Class Team, literally a tick box saying Register. The form will automatically retrieve their names, they can submit it multiple times for each lesson, and you can view all results in excel online and filter by date and sort by name.

We wrote off the idea of registering entirely as it wouldn't be manageable that we could think of; instead just opting to ensure that teachers set assignments that were appropriate and were returned for checking in a deadline. It wouldn't therefore matter if students did this during the day, at the weekend etc as long as it was done, plus it helps keep the 3 hours max per day guideline happy. It's then easy to see what children are not engaging and they/parents are contacted as appropriate.

To answer my own question......Microsoft are bringing out a "participant list" list which sees who joined a meeting and for how long. Says will be out by the end of the month along with "Hands up" feature.

This is working well for us, just a one click form and add it as a tab to the team.
