Elblag Inclined Boat Lift, Poland

One, Katy, of 5 inclined planes on the Elblag canal. The mechanism is powered by water from the top level canal being taken off to turn a waterwheel which then drives the machinery. The principle is similar to a cliff railway in that the cable attached to the cradles is endless going from from top to bottom. One cradle descends as the other ascends. Classically simple - it just needs lots of available water!
