Anyone using Xiaomi phones?

Looking for a phone for my OH (bored of getting shouted at when current phone loses GPS while being used for sat nav).

 

Xiaomi seem to be the current bargain:

 

Looking at the Redmi Note 8T or the Mi 9 Lite (Qualcomm 710, Samsung amoled screen, Sony 48Mp camera for £209)

 

Just wondering whether anyone would recommend or otherwise.

Considering it - ideally I want another OnePlus device but they seem to hold their value even better than Crapple phones so even decent refurbs are a little out of reach. (my OP3 is struggling a little now mostly due to crap replacement screen). I've been looking at the Mi 9 but voices in my head keep saying NOOOOOO.

I have a Pocophone F1 from Xiaomi and it's a very nice device.

Currently have Lineage OS running on it as I didn't like the bloatware, but it's been very reliable and has fantastic battery life and speed.

I use a Mi 8 lite, can't say I've had any issues. If you're in no hurry to get and use the phone, look somewhere like eglobal central, or one of the usual banggood type sites, you can usually get the chinese version for cheaper, and load the international os on there yourself. Just double check to make sure you aren't buying a weird version with protocols and frequencies that aren't used in the UK.

I've had a Xiaomi Mi a1 for 2 years I think, saw it on hotukdeals, came from gearbest I think, may have been aliexpress, anyway, came quickly, and I've had no problems with it, I liek it, has Android One, gets monthly updates.

 

When it arrived showed it to a colleague who is an iphone owner and he was impressed that such a cheap phone was so good and said he'd consider switching in future.

I'd buy another OnePlus as my OnePlus 2 is still going strong, but can't justify the >£500 pricetag. The ~£275 I paid in August 2015 was twice what I'd ever spent before, but at 4 years 7 months feels like acceptable value. Only thing I miss is NFC, but have it in my head to prove that a phone can last 6 years....

Mi9T Pro Here - Fantastic Device, headphone jack, 27w charging and does everything I throw at it. Camera is very good (I do have a compact which I use).

 

Also, I like the pop-up camera for the simple reason I rarely take selfies so having an unobstructed screen is great.

 

Running Android 10 also.

Pick something that gets updates as often as possible, so probably an Android One phone.
