mrstrong Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 Seems to be a bit of a craze at the moment of kids listening to music (plus tik tok videos ?) via scratch (we use the online version so can't block domain https://scratch.mit.edu/) e.g. https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/324728082/ any ideas how to filter / block the music and videos (we have smoothwall)
Guest Guest Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 I'd deploy the desktop version and block the online
paulkerton Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 Is there no way to flag the copyright infringement to Scratch? Part of the role of Scratch being an educational tool should be teaching them that copyright infringement is bad.
mrstrong Posted March 6, 2020 Author Posted March 6, 2020 (edited) Just an update on this as was asked to look at it again. I noticed the online editor uses URL: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/editor whereas all the projects with music/videos etc are e.g. https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/291427567/ so created two custom categories: first with Domain/URL filtering for scratch.mit.edu/projects/editor and second with Domain/URL filtering for scratch.mit.edu/projects Then add two Web filter policies: the first as allow and place that above the second as block. Seems to have done the job so far. Also blocked searches for [tik] and [tok] using instructions here https://kb.smoothwall.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003315799-Blocking-MOMO-Searches Edited March 6, 2020 by mrstrong
