Application will only run under global admin user

Hey All,

Our music department uses Logic Pro. I recently had cause to rebuild a Mac using deployment studio. Everything went fine and if I logon as gadmin all works well. However, if I logon as any other user the icon for Logic Pro is different on the dock and in applications (looks like a blank piece of paper with a pair of compasses in the bottom right corner - not showing a "no entry sign") and the app just won't run - it bounces three times then stops.

I'm assuming that it's a permissions issue seeing as the app works fine under one user and no others. If I check the rights to the app it is set for gadmin read and write, admins read only and everyone read only.

If I check apps that do work under other users the rights are System read and write with two groups "wheel" (no idea what that is) and everyone set to read only.

I don't know if this really is the problem but it sounds logical - problem is I don't know how to add "System" to the rights list as it doesn't appear under the local users list to be added from.

Any suggestions?

Are you sure the app has installed in the /Applications folder and not the users ~/Applications folder?

Also check the ownership is root:wheel with all users allowed to run it. You can look at chown and chmod commands if you need to tweak these and having issues from the GUI.
