SAN Split

Does anyone know if it's supported or possible to have a SAN split into 2 arrays so that one array is linked to a windows server and the other half esxi? each array has 2 paths to it.

 

I want to migrate from ESXi to hyper-v re-using the hardware so plan would be to move all vms to 1 esxi host and one data array, crash the server install windows and iscsi target it to the array, move servers from esxi to hyper-v and do the same with the other host.

 

Otherwise, any other suggestions on how to do this?

Depends on the SAN I'd guess, what's your setup now? Can you resize iSCSI "drives"?

It's a Dell MD3220i with 2 arrays split 50/50 on total capacity.

So you have 2 disk groups? And then multiple virtual disks on top of that, one for each "drive" on the virtual machines?

Correct. 2 disk groups, 1 virtual disk per group, each disk assigned to each host

Ah, only 1 virtual disk per host, rather than one per VM?
