Issue in SIMS since the autumn upgrade. Possible Data breach without your Knowledge!

I have just become aware of an issue in SIMS that has happened since the autumn 2019 upgrade. This has caused a Data breach for our school and potentially other schools without them knowing anything about it.

 

Apparently, Capita are preparing a Patch to resolve this, but they have not issued a warning in the meantime. (Not that I am aware of, anyway)

 

This issue is (and I do not understand why this is happening in an SQL database) when you delete a contact in a student’s record i.e. a stepparent for instance, the contact is not being disconnected from said student.

 

If you look in the ‘Contacts’ section (5th icon from left, person with envelope behind them) for the contact you deleted from the student record, in section 4. Associated Students, the relationship is still there.

 

This WILL cause problems if you send emails to 'Parents of' .

Cheers for the heads up. This Autumn release has been nothing but problems for us it seems.
