Morning all,

I need to create a retention policy in O365 to automatically delete mail once it reaches 3 years (1095 days) old. I need to exclude a handful of mailboxes to this policy.

Through research online research I've been led to believe that I should access the exchange admin centre, create a new retention tag, then a new retention policy with the tag attached and then set it as the default retention policy and assign it to all the relevant mailboxes.

However, My colleague has informed me of another way that seems a lot easier and that is to do the following.

Go to office security and compliance centre and just create a new retention policy under information governance.

Can someone explain what the difference is and advise how best to proceed?

Many thanks
