MattGibson Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 (edited) Just seeing if we are the only school using Zyxel switches we have pretty much kited the whole school out with theses. Overall we are happy with the spec all running at 1000Mbps. They were cheap and cheerful as you know budgets are tight. We have one problem with the network dropping out and I think this is due to a configuration problem somewhere. However about a min later it will come back on. Be good to bounce ideas of anyone. kmount Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 I like Zyxel kit, but not used on Enterprise level so not sure whether the quality is there.
TronXP Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Quite a few years ago when we were ISDN we had ZYXEL ISDN routers, they were reliable never had any problems with them. Just set them up and they went for years without touching them. Not sure about switches or more recent products, however.
Geoff Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 I used to have a Zylex 9600 baud modem about ~20 years ago. It was square and ugly, but it worked.
Pete10141748 Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 I've used Zyxel wireless routers personally (i.e. at home / uni) before and they all seemed fine to me. Quick and easy to set up, and once done they just run happily.
m25man Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 (edited) I thought I would take the opportunity to bump this thread as we are off on a training course for the new wireless controller next week... The NXC5200 looks like it's about to become a cat amongst pigeons with a 48 AP controller up to 8 gigabit Ports available for trunks, vlans and networks wireless edge firewall and AV for guest access control, AD integration for half the price of one of the "most popular" vendors. I will post a more detailed review once we have had a chance to play with it... http://zyxel.co.uk/web/product_family_detail.php?PC1indexflag=20040520161256&CategoryGroupNo=DDBFC2ED-E56A-4DF7-8A76-E842671FD57A Edited February 19, 2011 by m25man
