itgeek Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 Hi I have re-directed the documents etc to the home drives however students have the option to save to the local user account appdata. Can I restrict this so it will only go the the documents folder? I have not configured the AppData(roaming) properties yet? Thanks for your help
Garacesh Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 (edited) There's a GPO to deny access to A:, B: and C: User Configuration / Policies / Administrative Templates / Windows Components / File Explorer Prevent access to drives from My Computer There's a 'Restrict A, B and C drives only' option. Best paired with the Hide these specified drives in My Computer option so they don't show up at all We have it so they're hidden for everybody and denied for all pupils. robyholmes Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 Both Prevent Access to C & Redirection of AppData is not advised. We've moved back to local for AppData to solve problems with redirected AppData. In terms of this issue, there's a few things: Why are they not saving to the normal locations (Documents, Desktop etc) How are they getting to AppData or is the program just defaulting to it?
itgeek Posted December 4, 2019 Author Posted December 4, 2019 Hi, So I have redirected the documents folder however they are able to save under This PC with the network locations. When I look at the properties its in c:\Users\username\Appdata\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Network Shortcuts ? They should now be able to save in that folder and want this to re-direct to the documents home folder Thanks

itgeek Posted December 5, 2019 Author Posted December 5, 2019 Hi, I have both the options enabled in GPO however it will still let the users save to c:\users\username. Have I missed something? Thanks
