aicrd Posted November 30, 2019 Posted November 30, 2019 Hi all. I mentioned in a previous thread that I wanted a test system for Smoothwall and luckily (after becoming a partner) they have said they would send one over soon. We're an IT Support company but since there is only 2 of us everything we have is cloud based. Is it possible to deploy Smoothwall without AD for authentication and use G Suite? I know this is possible on ChromeOS for the Smoothwall Connect Extension but is it possible to have all devices behind a captive portal auth via G Suite? Also, is it possible to use G Suite groups to filter out policies? IE: Staff Group on Smoothwall have YouTube allowed but Students group doesn't.

Yes, you can use G-Suite for captive portal authentication. Just don’t enable AD and G-Suite at the same time (it will let you but doesn’t work). I’m not sure about Google groups but Smoothwall recognizes G-Suite OUs and you can apply different policies based on them. 1
