Ram dimm orders in HP Proliant gen 8 ml350p

I want to increase RAM

 

All the HPE manuals seem to say to share dimms across all channels.

 

Do people do this? Mine currently has 16gb 4x4.

 

However they are just in top 4 slots.

 

Server has 4 channels so wondering what the norm is please. 1 processor installed 2603 Xeon 1.8

What does the currently have installed 16GB installed ( 4GB x 4GB )

 

Population guidelines:

 

There are four (4) channels per processor; eight (8) channels per server

 

There are three (3) DIMM slots for each memory channel; twenty-four (24) total slots

 

Memory channels1 and 3 consists of the three (3) DIMMs that are furthest from the processor

 

Memory channel 2 and 4 consists of the three (3) DIMMs that are closest to the processor

 

Should be ok what the server role acting as
