timbo343 Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 Is there a way to merge 2 GSuite accounts without having to have a 3rd party app and assign security permissions from within GSuite? Whilst we are transistioning from O365 to Gsuite and reviewing accounts that have already been setup pre-migration, we have found some staff accounts have already been setup and are in use with a different email / username format so when we import our AD users into Gsuite, these users will have 2 accounts so we are wanting to merge the 2 together and assign the pre-migration email address as an aliais. The latter is simple to do however the former a little less so. I was wondering if anyone has any experience of merging GSuite accounts that they would like to share. Thanks
IrritableTech Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 How many are we talking? Can you leave the existing in use email accounts then just change the account details to follow the convention afterwards? When you change an email address within AD and use GADs to sync it automatically creates an alias on the account for the previous address.
timbo343 Posted November 20, 2019 Author Posted November 20, 2019 We are only talking about a few - possibly 4 - 5.
PotNoodleTech Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 If you disable the spurious account for the user I think you then get the option to move all of their stuff over to a different account of your choice (i,e their proper account). I have not done this though so you would need to check the instructions. I am sure that is an option though.
timbo343 Posted November 20, 2019 Author Posted November 20, 2019 (edited) Suspending an account just does that, i cannot see an option to transfer files / emails to another user. If i delete a user, the options are: All documents that this user owns will be inaccessible All Emails of this user will be deleted All Calendar event for thsi user will be deleted The Vault account for this user will also be deleted Have to tick all for to delete however there is a "learn more" option about transfering ownership of Drive files > https://support.google.com/a/answer/1247799?hl=en-GB but it's not related to emails. Anyway, looks like the MAT Gsuite APPs is missing the GDrive App, it only has the GMail App that can be configured (or it might be my account hasn't been setup to configure GDrive!)
