Rebuilding QNAP Backup SAN

I have a QNAP TVS-1271U-RP, which is our backup SAN for our VEEAM backups, connected via 10GbE to our production storage (HP MSA). I am currently rebuilding the storage in it due to storage limitations. We previously had 9x 3TB drives in RAID5. I now have 5x 8TB drives and plan on using RAID6. I am in a dilemma as to the configuration of the volume - do I just create a new basic storage pool, or do I use iSCSI instead? Unfortuantely my knowledge on iSCSI is limited and I'm currently doing some research. Am I going to see any benefits using iSCSI compared to a standard storage pool?
