Improving Email Distribution Groups?

Hi,

I'm looking for ideas\software to make creating\updating email distribution groups. To enable easy contact with teachers of a year group, or even teachers of a student. Any ideas welcome.

Salamander does what you need.

 

I have it setup to do this for year groups, subjects etc (anything that can be pulled out SIMS).

 

For of a Student, we used to use Mailfinder, but that seems to have disappeared, we now Use the messaging tool in Edulink One for this, which works really well, and allows parents to easily communicate with their Child's teachers as well, without "guessing" email addresses.

Sorry to hijack this a little, but we are looking at implementing a solution for electronic newsletter distribution to parents with as little cost attached as possible, with the proviso that they can opt-out if they wish and those changes would be reflected somewhere without a lot of manual editing. I've been considering purchasing Salamander for a while now, and if it could do what I want it would almost seal the deal.

 

Can Salamander create/update distribution lists based on parental contact information? Does anyone use it to create parental e-mail lists or groups?

 

I'm aware there's other products specifically targeted to this, I see SchoolComms gets a good rep on EduGeek, but then I'd be considering two different products. We have ParentPay and I can see that you can mail all parents there, but the lack of an opt-out option would mean it's not viable.
