Papercut Chromebook Mobility Printing

Has anyone set up Mobility printing for use with managed Chromebooks?

I have the Mobility Printing Server setup. I have published a printer and I have installed the mobility Print App on the Chromebook.

I can select the correct printer on the Chromebook and send a job. The Mobility Printing Server shows that it has processed a job but Papercut Server doesnt show anything and the print job never gets printed.

 

Any ideas please?

Are you ever prompted to enter in a username and password before each print job?

 

I ask because Papercut needs to know who the job belongs to in order to check quotas and balances etc... otherwise it will drop the job and never print.

As above set it to authenticate per job but also do you have users charging to personal balances or use the pop up? If that latter you will need to go to papercutserver:9191/client and login and use the web based pop up. I think there is a script you can use for Chrome book printing to bypass this.

For staff it is the popup as they use shared accounts. For students it's personal accounts. Will try again tomorrow with your suggestions.

Jobs don't appear as the pop up hasn't been selected, jobs will sit there for 10 minutes (default time setting) till you select an account. Presume students can print ok?

Haven't tested with students on Chromebooks.

 

Set Mobility print to authenticate per job.

Logged into the Chromebook and opened a Google Doc. Used CTRL-P to bring up the print dialogue. Chose the published printer with the "P" next to it.

Papercut box popped up for authentication. Typed in the details.

 

On a PC opened the client at "papercutserver:9191/client" but no jobs showing. Only jobs I printed earlier using the PC.

Change a user to print to personal account, see if that job prints. No need for client here.
