Moving MIS to the cloud

Hey all

 

we are planning MIS providers,but i am thinking of putting it in the cloud. I have had a quote from the supplier them self for it to be hosted by them but its about £2000+.

 

i have had look at self hosting in the cloud but i am undecided on OVH Dedicated server or Azure.

 

Has anyone recently setup there MIS In the cloud any suggestions.

Hosted offsite doesn't always mean cloud..

 

There are cloud (web based) MIS systems and then there are legacy local SQL database systems that can be moved into a data center.

 

A good example of this is the most popular MIS Sims having an offsite hosted option but its still the old version of Sims underneath. They are working on a new cloud (web based) version but its been delayed several years now with no recent news.

Database witch requires MS SQL

Portal witch requires IIS

Broker Serivce MS 2016

for external access SSL Cert from Digicert

and 64kbs bandwidth per person

My only thought is if they are hosting it they take the requirements off your hands and are responsible for any failures. They will also handle updates and backups. You also have a fixed cost for the year, rather than the possibility that the Azure server racks up an unexpected charge.

The last time I researched this with Sims and going Hosted Sims it was going to cost mega money.
