Office desk lamps

My current "office" is a converted store cupboard. S'OK; I could take a desk in an open-plan area but I prefer my own space. The fluorescent lights are a bit dazzling though. Has anyone nailed it in terms of cheap and cheerful mood lighting...? What kind of bulbs would complement a hangover and an array of flatscreen monitors...?

I've gone with putting LED strips around the top of the walls and around my monitor.

 

Different colours. different intensity/colour warmth. Best of the best world, I think.
