Password complexity message - Win10 1709

Hi, staff and students have returned and the following message has started appearing for anyone who wants to change their password.

 

'Unable to update the password. The value provided for the new password doesn’t meet the length, complexity or history requirements of the domain."

 

However even if the password does match the criteria it wont change. No changes have been made to group policy.

 

I have tried changing the policy that governs it but still not luck. It looks like that policy is no longer applying.

 

Anyone else seen this?

 

Domain Controllers were windows updated in the summer.

Group policy settings for password are being applied. Its just ignoring it.

Fixed it. Changed the GPO to the following:

Had you just reset people's passwords?

 

when a minimum password age is in place the user will have to be that number of days past when it was last set to issue a new one - unless the "require user to change password on login" flag is set.

It was the new users it was affecting and the minimum password age was 42days. So this makes sense. Thanks!
