FN-GM Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 Hello, I am looking to join a Facebook group. The group type is listed as "general". It is one of those groups you have to request to become a member. I am wondering if friends will be able to see if I have joined this group please? Thanks
sister_annex Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 There are 3 types of facebook group: Public (Anyone can find it, see who's in it and what they post) Closed (Anyone can find it and see who owns it, however only members can see who's in it and what they post) Secret (Only Members can find the group, see who's in it and what they post) If you're requesting to join I would suspect that it is a Closed group. As such, unless a 'Friend' is also a member your friends will not know you are member. 2
DJ-1701 Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 Look... there is no shame in joining the Shaun the Sheep fan club... 2
elsiegee40 Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 They’ll only be able to see if you join a public group. For example, I am a member of Kent Birding. I had to request to join it, but all posts in the group are public and any interaction I have with that group will show on my timeline. I am also a member of a couple of closed groups, one of which is for school governance. The only friends who can see that I am a member of the governance group are people that are also members of the governance group. 1
