Customising program sets or shortcuts in cc3

I have been in my new post for about 5 weeks now and thought it was time I tackled the shortcuts for staff on the program menu as most of the shortcuts are for long removed programs. There is also repetition with the likes of power DVD in each subjects folder rather than in a common tools folder.

 

 

I can't find a way to make a program set (cc3) go more than one level deep!

 

Has anyone found a way round this as the RM way seems a bit antiquated?

 

Or has anyone found a way of delivering these in a better way while running CC3?

They aren't meant to go more than one level deep. Why not just stick to one level?

Goto X:\Group Resources\Programs and create the folders you require in the relevent folder. Open X:\Group Resources\Programs\DAServer.ini and up the number of the program set by one :-

Maths=41

to

Maths=42

 

Note- all shortcuts must point to .EXE's .Dont make new folders at the top level, use the managment console for that.

Thanks Ian I am trying this out right now. Maybe I can get the menus how they should be now and not how RM want them to be.

Following what Ian Mullings said, even with this method, you can still only go 3 levels deep, e.g. All Programs\Dept\Sub-Dept\Folder\shortcut.

 

The shortcuts to removed items should only be a problem to you, as unresolvable shortcuts should be getting hidden from the users. If yours are still showing up, you could have something wrong with (I think) Desktop Agent.
