Clevo W760C Backup BIOS

Hi all,

 

I have loads of Stone laptops with Clevo W760C motherboard in. I wanted to update the BIOS of the machine and found a update in RM knowledge base, which said it fixed the issue of the wireless card disabling, which is a common issue. What I didn't know was that it would remove the ability to boot to LAN, making imaging the laptop painful to say the least. So I was wondering if it is possible to backup the BIOS from another W760C laptop and then use that to flash the other laptop?

 

I have contacted Stone and they no longer have any drivers or BIOS updates for this laptop. I have also looked around the net but can't really find much. Clevo doesn't seem to have any BIOS updates on their site????????

 

Any advice or help would be appreciated.

Does the W760C have an Aptio BIOS from American Megatrends? If so, you can use their utility to save a copy of the older BIOS.

It looks like you can use WinPhlash to backup Phoenix BIOSs.

Hi mate, I was just looking at that and tried it, but you need an existing BIOS update, even when just backing up otherwise it throws an error. I just am a bit paranoid as the only one I have is the RM one.
