Smart Charging Solutions Wish List

All schools need somewhere to store and charge devices throughout the school day.

 

Existing solutions such as trolleys and lockers don't really offer anything smart.

 

I would like to see a charging solution that offers a bit more than somewhere to store and charge a device and have complied a list of features below that may be useful with device management within school

 

All features below would be monitored through central administrative console and could assist with the following:

 

· Identification of device charging status

· Identification of device charging percentage

· Identify how long the device has been plugged in for.

· Identification and logging of devices that are plugged in via the device serial number

· Locate where the device is positioned within the charging solution

· Locate where the device is located within the school

· Who last locked / unlocked the charging solution

· Device rollout assistance

· Device Bios information

If I understand correctly, the type of Ac to DC converter used to charge most modern laptops / tablets exhibits a certain amount of ground leakage. Too much ground leakage (i.e from multiple AC-DC converters on the one circuit) will cause a modern RCD-protected power circuit to trip. A charging system that could fully charge devices on the same circuit overnight on a rolling basis might prove rather handy.

What features would you like to see to make device management easier?

 

I think what would make them easier to manage is not providing any keys to unlock them. This way the wonderfully sorted laptops & charging cables, beautifully arranged in a brand new cabinet for the first time, cables run to the exact length and gleaming laptops all plugged in & charging, can't be disturbed by staff or students.

 

P.S. sorry I can't offer anything constructive at this time (I'm too tired).
