Can you deploy chromebook apps to devices rather than users?

Can you push a Chrome app or extension to a set of chromebooks rather than a set of users?

 

Im sure I have deployed apps to hardware rather than users before but either I imagined it or something has moved. Seems odd to only be able to push them to users as it ends up with lots of apps appearing for every student on every device.

 

Am I missing a setting?

Nope. It's something google really needs to get to grips with but they don't work in schools so I guess thy think per user deployment is the way to go.

i think ALL cloud solutions assume 1:1 devices and anything else is an ignorable oddity

Did you run an app in kiosk mode or a guest session?
