Simon_Sion Posted June 24, 2019 Posted June 24, 2019 Hi All I've just taken over a new role at a school, and going through our current licenses, I've found that we paid AIT 9k for 3 years support in June last year, which is great! because my web search bought me to here to find out that they are no longer trading. Another query I had was we are paying around £180 a month to host the school website and CMS. That seems a little steep for me, just wanted some advice if that was more then it should be? thanks in advance
TechMonkey Posted June 24, 2019 Posted June 24, 2019 (edited) Depends on what you are getting for that money, I bet it it is a custom CMS so they are charging a license. It could be cheaper yes, we are looking at less than that a year. To put it in to context companies were quoting us between £150pm up to £480pm so it could be worse. sonofsanta Posted June 25, 2019 Posted June 25, 2019 (edited) We pay £300pa for a local company to host it on Rackspace and give us support. That's with their own CMS, too, not Wordpress or similar. So yeah, £180/month seems a bit steep to me--about 7 times what I'm paying now. (Far from the worst rip off I've seen, though...) Regarding AIT--it may not be all bad news. AltmanIM have picked up all the support stuff, and were offering to honour old agreements. More details in this thread, and probably worth your time emailing [email protected] Edited June 25, 2019 by sonofsanta added AIT stuff 1
