Hi there,

Does anyone have any ideas. I am remotely working for a school which apparently has a server which happens to be headless and in a small cupboard with a date or time mismatch.

This is the error that is showing when I RDC:

Can anyone think of any ways I could sort this out remotely. Obviously, if I were there, I would go to it with a screen, kb and mouse, but can't at the moment.

Well depending on how the rest of the network is setup, if that server is your time server (at the school), and setting the other pcs (at school) time, can you get someone to tell you what the time is showing and then set your machine to that time temporarily?

Do you have anything like a VNC/local remote software setup and can access another desktop at the school as that won't be affected by the time difference?

Again can psexec change the time if you're able to connect to anything else on the network?

Quick Google...

Logging in using the IP address solved the problem.

setting RDP protocol to RDP (less secure) fixed this problem.

Other issues mentioned:

Time/Date - location mismatch (time zone)

Change your time to match server.

Disable IPv6

Restart remote server

Is it a VM:

I failed to mentioned that this was a Virtual Machine. The time was off on the host itself. After I fixed the time, I could remote in via host name

YMMV

Use at own risk...

Thanks guys, using it's static IP to RDC seems to work, however I am now getting....

Error2.JPG

I click ok and log in as a local admin.

Date and time are fine.

I have added VNC, just about to reboot and will see what happens next.

I cannot run PsExec as Sophos has blocked it and I don't seem able to unblock it so had to open a ticket. Everything is so over-complicated at times.

if you have a pc you can easily change the time on you could cheat on that pc open up a command prompt and type

net time \\server /set

bit of a backwards solution if the pc you are on is correct but should work 9or at least fix the time problem.

i think though id be borrowing a screen and keyboard and logging on to the server that way if at all possible
