Scratch 3.0 - running from Network Share

Has anyone had any luck at all getting this software to run from a network share?

 

I have downloaded the "installer" (basically a self extracting archive) and unzipped it using 7zip

 

This left me with 1 folder and a file:

 

$PLUGINSDIR

Uninstall Scratch Desktop.exe

 

Inside the $PLUGINSDIR was a bunch of files:

 

app-32.7z

nsExec.dll

nsis7z.dll

nsProcess.dll

SpiderBanner.dll

StdUtils.dll

System.dll

WinShell.dll

 

I extracted the app-32.7z archive and the application ran from inside that folder with no problems at all

 

As soon as the folder was copied to the Application Server on site it refused to run. The accounts used have full access to the share and it still doesn't work.

 

How else would you suggest I achieve this?. I can't go round each machine on site and install it (too many machines involved) unless someone knows how to install it via GP

We installed it on a machine and grabbed the files - I believe it installs itself somewhere in AppData?

 

Then copied all those files onto our applications share and created a shortcut pointing to Scratch Desktop.exe

 

Works a treat.

 

EDIT: Looks like this thread here also has an MSI which installs it to Program Files http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows/202686-could-someone-create-msi-installer-new-scratch3-desktop-please.html

Tried that too, it just doesn't run for me at all

 

I'll give it another bash when I'm back on site next week

 

If all else fails I'll try the MSI option too. Stupid software

Did you get anywhere with this? Having the same issue with Scratch 3.5.0
