Gatt Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 I've downloaded and installed DanGuard But not sure how to set it up along with Squid I've setup the dansguard.conf file with the filterip set to the IP of my Linux box on port 8080 Do i set the proxyip to connect to squid (same ip on port 81) or to the ISA server at my LEA? I'm using SuSE 9.3 and there seems to be 3 services in YaST dansguard, squid, and squid_DG Which do i need to enable?
CyberNerd Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 IIRC squid_dg is the init.d script to restart squid and dansguardian simultaneously Do i set the proxyip to connect to squid (same ip on port 81) or to the ISA server at my LEA? connect it to squid, then tell squid about the upstream proxy
Gatt Posted February 21, 2006 Author Posted February 21, 2006 thanks cybernerd will try it all out tomorrow - might trash squid & dansguard and reinstall them so the .conf files are fresh again. Was getting a strange problem with Samba & CUPS on the system too but gonna concentrate on the proxy for now and sort out the file/print server side out another time.
Geoff Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 connect it to squid, then tell squid about the upstream proxy That's backwards. Dansguardian can't handle client requests directly. This is my setup: Client -> Squid (Internal IP:8080) -> Dansguardian (localhost:3128) -> your LEA's proxy (whatever).
Gatt Posted February 21, 2006 Author Posted February 21, 2006 Geoff, can you send me a copy of ur squid & dg config files? cos im getting lost about where to put everything Usually use Webmin for most stuff, but its confusing everything at the moment!
CyberNerd Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 That's backwards. Dansguardian can't handle client requests directly. It can work in either configuration, Squid just treats DansGuardian as another browser. I guess that flexibility makes it more colplex :?
Geoff Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Geoff, can you send me a copy of ur squid & dg config files? cos im getting lost about where to put everything I have stuff for doing NTLM auth and things scattered about my config. It'd likely just confuse you more.
