Chrome 75 Update - "Failed - Download Error"

Hi,

 

Is anybody else having problems downloading files to mapped network drives since the latest Chrome update this week (v75.0.3770.80)?

 

Same user account, permissions, download directory set via GPO, v74.0.3729.169 works perfectly, but v75.x gives the "Failed - Download Error" message every time we download a file.

 

 

I've added a GPO to stop Chrome from auto-updating

All good here - went to v75 yesterday lunchtime and been downloading loads to a redirected home drive and a departmental share since then. No stroppy emails from the great unwashed either...

The problem has been fixed, no more snarky emails.

Setting the download directory as a computer policy was breaking something.

 

Several furious "gpupdate /force"s later, and the new user-level policy now works.
