I've been asked by a member of staff who has received a form for this company who run courses for schools why they need this information.

 

The form is asking for Gender, Ethnicity, DOB which I am puzzled why they are asking for these details as their privacy notices says they will use this data to ensure they receive their certificate and to link their with their project (if applicable).

 

So I am puzzled why they need Gender, Ethnicity, DOB for a certificate etc.

 

They also ask for medical/dietary needs which I can understand if they are they for the day and are been food.

i get gender... miss mr... and dob to some extent but ethnicity we stoped recording that this year in our schols managment system as the DfE no longer require us to capture that... we have run Go4Set for years here but ive not been directly involved..

Think you're getting Ethnicity confused with Nationality & Country of Birth. Ethnicity is still collected for census purposes. Nationality & Country of Birth were introduced briefly then dropped again.

4.3.2 Pupil characteristics module

This module contains pupil characteristics information.

4.3.2.1 Ethnicity [ALL schools]

Ethnicity code (N00177) is required for all pupils, including pupils no longer on roll. The census includes the value held within the school MIS, whether the school has opted touse extended codes or to use the main codes. Where the ethnicity has not yet beencollected this is recorded as ‘NOBT’ (information not yet obtained). Where a parent /guardian or pupil declines to provide ethnicity data, code ‘REFU’ (declined to provide) isrecorded and returned.
