Uber22 Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 Hey We are looking to buy our first batch of tablets any suggestions on what to go for. I would like them to be on the network and students and staff to use there AD login. But I know the Microsoft surface are not cheap big bucks. Any suggestions would be great.
FN-GM Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 We used the Google ChromeOS tablets. Something like this: https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/series/acerchromebooktab10 They can run Android apps as well as the ChromeOS stuff. They integrated into AD and we could print etc. Just over £200 each. 1
Ditto Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 (edited) The ChromeTab 10" isn't showing up on UK site. When it was announced, it got mixed reviews, but offered a lot of potential. Anyone know whether it has matured or benefited from OS updates? What's the availability in the UK? *EDIT* - Also, where it is available, it's nearer £300 - I think at £250 -£200 it become a serious contender, especially in primary schools. AlanD Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 I think the whole chrome concept is brilliant. But....kids..and teachers, in my experience, hate everything unless it’s Apple iOS.
Arthur Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 The ChromeTab 10" isn't showing up on UK site. It's definitely there. www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/series/acerchromebooktab10 There's also the Asus CT100PA... www.asus.com/uk/Tablets/ASUS-Chromebook-Tablet-CT100PA/ 1
Ditto Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 (edited) It's definitely there. www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/series/acerchromebooktab10 I see. From the home page, it appears under Laptops, not tablets. Having navigated to the store, I can't see it there either! Could be me, but I'm left with a feeling of it is still not ready for UK schools. Even following the links to Acer Education, it really doesn't seem to feature prominently - it's in the download but couldn't really see it highlighted in the online sections. FN-GM Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 *EDIT* - Also, where it is available. We got ours from SoftCat.
