the_quick Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 (edited) Hi Gus and Gals So decided slowly to decommiso my 2008 DC and first was to move DHCP from it to new DC 2016. Stopped old DHCP on 2008 , copied backup filder under c:\windows\system32\dhcp and pasted into same location on new server. Started clean DHCP on 2016 press restore - all went fine, authorised, no errors. But it just doesn't serve IP addresses to clients, unless it is on server scope- I have few scopes - all were imported fine. Event viewer is not showing any errors with DHCP. Step tried so far: - disabled windows firewall to if this is maybe it, nope. - reauthorised server - deleted one scope and added new manually - removing role and reinstalling it, importing DHCP through command line New server has different computer name to old one and has different IP address. I think for now will bring old dhcp back online. Normally I would kust recreate whole DHCP config, but with numerous scopes and reservation, it looks like very laborious task Edited May 31, 2019 by the_quick
steveg Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 Do you have ip helpers configured on the switches pointing to the ip address of the old dhcp server?
the_quick Posted May 31, 2019 Author Posted May 31, 2019 Sorted now, but Steve you were right on the ball . I forgot we had that on our core switch which is as well doing our routing. As soon as I have added new server to the list all working.
