This never rings true for me. I'll happily save hundreds on a phone and only use the camera only for note-taking. Meanwhile, my best camera will live at home most days, along with lots of nice pictures up on the walls that I took with it.

 

Can't take a photo if you don't have a camera. Camera only works if it's nearby. My DSLR lives at home most days, obviously the better choice when it's with me. Although even then I use my phone to take a photo to share straight away.
