Windows photos stealth update

Hi everyone,

 

It would appear that although we have Windows update service disabled on our student computers a stealth Microsoft.Windows.Photos update has happened and has now broken photos opening in the photos app. Users just get a system error. This seems to have happened since the start of the month and now we are seeing issues.

 

How the heck can this happen?

You don't get much control over the modern apps. I'd try and work what is causing the system error. It's probably a domain that isn't doesn't like SSL interception.

Yup its the Windows update medic service which has over-ruled me disabling the windows update service and surprise surprise you can't disable the windows update medic service easily either.

Software as a Service. We are here to pick up the pieces. Basically if you allow the store you allow updates, per user updates. All you can do is try and trace the issue.
