Tinribs Posted April 15, 2019 Posted April 15, 2019 Hi All, We've just about finished installing 300 new HP G400 AIO pcs to replace some ageing iMacs. Had a few issues but mostly sorted. One very odd thing though. We have a policy that powers off all desktops at 20:00 every night, however, it has been reported that several of the new machines are on when people arrive in the morning. Our iMacs all stayed off as far as I know. I checked the event logs of those machines that were on in the morning and confirmed that they are, indeed, shutting down every night at the appropriate time. Then, at random times after that, and only sometimes, they are turning themselves back on again. In fact, I have even turned one off and then, 5 minutes later seen it power itself back on again. There is an HP article that is relevant https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03479882 I've followed that through and many (I would estimate about half of the 300 we've installed) are turning themselves on at random times during the night or day after powering down in the evening. I've even tried switching power sockets between two machines when one is turning on and one doesn't seem to be - even that was inconclusive. No idea what's going on - any ideas?

Tinribs Posted May 2, 2019 Author Posted May 2, 2019 Thanks for this one - it was fast start that caused the problem. Also turned out to be affecting our "newer" Macs as well - as soon as I disabled it via GPO the problem went away. Appreciated.
