chris11256 Posted April 11, 2019 Posted April 11, 2019 We currently provision all Gsuite accounts manually and it's something I'd very much like to change. I've found this(link) Microsoft page on setting up Gsuite to sync with AzureAD(which we have syncing with AD through Azure AD Connect). However I'm just wondering what will happen to my existing Gsuite accounts once I set this up? Will their password be changed to their AD/AzureAD password or am I getting mixed up and this sync only syncs accounts rather than passwords? Apologies if this sounds stupid, I've never managed Gsuite before.
NicholasEsping Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 Depending on how you set it up there passwords will not change. You can set this up to just provision users or you can also set up SAML authentication to have your GSuite users sign in with their Office 365 credentials. If you go the SAML method your current users would need to start logging in with their Office 365 credentials. 1
chris11256 Posted April 12, 2019 Author Posted April 12, 2019 Thank you! Assuming I change to SAML authentication, would existing users Gsuite file be safe?
NicholasEsping Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 I believe so. The only change the user would really see would be when they type their email in at the Gsuite login page it will redirect to your office 365 tenant for the sign in. If you have SSO set up I beleive it will just log them in. All of their Gsuite files setting emails etc would remail unchanged. 1
chris11256 Posted April 12, 2019 Author Posted April 12, 2019 Thank you. Looks like I'll get started on this!
