Danp Posted March 19, 2019 Posted March 19, 2019 A little different from other threads about Asset management, I'm looking for a software solution for our housekeeping, estates and catering teams. Need to book stock in when it's delivered and when it's taken, who's taken it and where it's gone. Anyone seen something like this?
Fazza Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 Snipe-IT might be worth a look as you could just add accessories (rather than actual assets) and set up locations (i.e. room numbers) so you book in a delivery of exerciser books for example so Snipe-IT would show the quantity of boxes/packs you have etc. and then when you get your staff to sign in they can then book out an accessory (i.e. 1 box/pack of exercise books) to either a room or person. Snipe-IT will then reduce the quantity of of them by the number you booked out and simply shows you how many boxes/packs you have left. You can then do a search on the books and see where they have all been given or sent to depending on if you sent it to a room or named person.

We use the hosted version and thats really cheap. Works a treat.
Danp Posted March 20, 2019 Author Posted March 20, 2019 Nice one, thank you. Will give it an install and see how it works. It looks very much like PiHole.

mdrabble Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 Anyone got any reliable installation instruction for Ubuntu and Snipe? Found about 4 different installation instructions and they are all seem to want to install different ways. Cheers
geohanson Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 I’ve spent ages today trying to get SnipeIT to work under Ubuntu - had much better luck with CentOS https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.reddit.com/r/sysadmin/comments/7d5f68/recommended_server_specifications_for_snipe_it_app/ Install CentOS (I chose the option with the GUI as it was easier to setup the networking and Linux isn’t my strong point) sudo yum update -y sudo yum upgrade -y Install Wget sudo yum install wget -y Download the SnipeIT.sh install script from github. sudo wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/snipe/snipe-it/master/snipeit.sh Run the install script sudo bash ./snipeit.sh Then just run through the setup. Everything else should then install itself. Seemed to work okay for me 1
Danp Posted May 6, 2019 Author Posted May 6, 2019 Have a look at this video (and others he has done) I ended up following the Server 2016 and it just worked first time
mdrabble Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Installed Centos and have SnipeIT up and running. Somewhere in the world of Edugeek I have seen a script which queries machines and saved details to a csv file - but I'm struggling to find it! Can someone point me in the direction of that thread please

mdrabble Posted May 9, 2019 Posted May 9, 2019 Trying to get SnipeIT to import a CSV file and it is moaning about a Model ID. Think I may put this hold and see what other systems are out there.

Just ask Snipe-IT what it means. If i ever have a query with Snipe-IT I usually get a reply within a few minutes.
