New HAP install recomendations

Hi

 

We have a very very old version of HAP (7.9 ish) running perfectly happily on a 2008 server (Thanks Nick).

 

We only use Hap for the basic file access for our students who still use their network areas and shared areas and it works absolutely fine. I cannot remember anything I did to get it working as it was a long time ago so I will be a complete newbie effectively!

 

I want to setup a new 2019 server (VM) and install the latest version of HAP that I can get working. I will go through the necessary pain and testing this involves as it has been such a fantastic product for us but I would obviously now like to use an up to date version and hopefully some of the extra features it has.

 

Is the latest version (10.6) working successfully on Server 2019 for anyone? Would you recommend going to the latest OS and version of HAP or is the Azure part, which I have not done anything with before, going to make it complicated for me or in fact would I be better with Server 2016?

I know of it working on Server 2019 from another Network Manager. Best thing to do is to download 10.6 and 10.5 (which is an upgrade from 10.0) and test on a new VM before moving access to it to all users.

 

Also, might be worth getting a free HTTPS Cert from Letaencrypt whilst you're at it.
