School office logging in to G Suite using Office 365 credentials - I have no control

So the small primary I have recently taken over have both office 365 & G Suite, none of these have been configured correctly, but that is all in other posts and not worth going over again.

 

The issue I have discovered today when trying to fix an issue for the office, is there is no office@ account in G Suite / users, they seem to be using Google Apps logged in as the office account created in Office 365.

 

Firstly is this possible?

 

Secondly, if they do not even have an account in G Suite, how am I I supposed to manage them? How can I enable or disable the apps etc?

 

I can't get my head round the way this is working. Can anyone offer any advice?

Would I be correct in thinking that the Google account the office are using is in fact not G Suite but a personal account, they have logged in to using the office email address which is attached to 365?

I am now not sure if it would have been a personal account, do google let users login to the free personal apps using a none Google domain.

 

Currently the office is logging in using [email protected]

You can set a policy in group policy for chrome to only allow logins from certain @school.trust etc, set that it should block them from logging it with it

Problem with doing that is they will then not have access to their office files & calendar in whatever Google system they are using. Also the office person using this works from home for 2 days so they will still be logging in.

We've got a similar situation here, you need to get them to move it over to blunt to g suite, you can argue for the case it's totally insecure, GDPR etc, they aren't school accounts and maintained by the school blah blah

 

We had it here, they were using Microsoft Exchange but using someone's personal email for Cover, a google account they had created for office work, a google account created for recruitment

The BIG issue I am going to have is.... I am just in the process of moving all our staff from Office 365 over to G Suite.

 

Office 365 was setup with the schools real domain (school.sch.uk), G Suite was not.

 

So I have just added school.sch.uk as a second domain to our G Suite and I am just about to make that the primary domain. So my G Suite domain will then also be school.sch.uk

 

When I then setup all the new users in G Suite under the school.sch.uk domain, what on earth am I going to do when I need to add the office@ account? Google will already have an account in its database for [email protected]

 

Does that make sense?

I just called Google and all will be OK.

 

When I add my [email protected] account in G Suite, Google systems are clever enough to know that address does already exist and even if its a personal account linked back to an office 365 user, they will email the account asking if the owner wants to migrate all there apps / settings to the new account, which will be the one I have setup in G Suite.
