Jason1975 Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Hi guys. We came in today to find that Windows 7 has updated itself to Windows 10 overnight. No prompts, no confirmation, no nothing. The kicker is the rollback to Windows 7 while 'clickable' does nothing?Any ideas on how to roll these back to Windows 7 without a rebuild please? Also no idea how MS can do something like that :(Many thanks in advance.
synaesthesia Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 That could have only happened to Win7 Home and Pro editions which have not had the updater blocked by opt-out, but even then that would have happened months ago...
Jason1975 Posted March 12, 2019 Author Posted March 12, 2019 Computers were Windows 7 yesterday and Windows 10 today.Thousands of threads on the Internet about this issue, so hopefully will find a fix. Strange how the rollback does not even engage though.
synaesthesia Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Like I said, only to those that didn't install the widely advertised patch to opt out of that functionality when they were supposed to! With 7's EOS due imminently it might be better worth your time accepting it and moving forwards.
Jason1975 Posted March 12, 2019 Author Posted March 12, 2019 Any link to this article or patch please?
synaesthesia Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Not much about any more due to age but this looks about right: https://www.computerworld.com/article/2993131/disable-windows-10-upgrade-nagware-on-windows-7-windows-81-computers.html
