Hello, i have recently tried to take apart an iMac for repair but putting it back together has resulted in it not working, i also realized that i had left the power cord still in and it has blown the power board, any ideas on how to fix it or whether it can actually be fixed?

This is the area on the motherboard that has been blown, im not an expert in Macs as i think you can all tell but this is the area where it has blown. You can see that part of the material has started to melt.

I can't see any melted material, but you do have a blown capacitor there!

That's going to be a specialist repair I reckon...

The blown part is L9000 FERR-250-OHM ferrite bead inductor / choke. Whack L9000 into the topright search field at https://www.scribd.com/document/398541208/820-2828-iMac-27-Mid-2011-model-A1312 and it'll take you to the schematic for the DP POWER connector...

size: 0603

Impedance @ 100 MHz: 220 Ω

rated current: 1.4 A

tolerance ±: 25 %

size: 1.6 x 0,.8mm

Original p/n: Murata BLM18PG221SN1D

Mouser electronics should stock a suitable replacement that should be fairly simple enough to solder back in place by someone with steady hands and a suitable iron & tip. However, doesn't reveal why it popped or whether replacing it will work... a replacement may just explode straight away also depending on the cause (usually a short).
