Writepad fault - how do I sort out

I have installed the latest version of write pad - very new to all of this.

 

When you go to save, it brings the student box up - if you forget to fill in any of the gaps the entire system crashes, and it cannot be retrieved. How to I recover the document so the student can add the correct information in.

 

On the settings, we have asked it to bring up the candidate information box on launching the programme, it does not do this, despite being asked to. My IT technician has suggested I ask.

 

Sorry if I have posted this on the wrong part of the system, very new to all of this, and want to sort out any problems before it is launched on the students.
