kidpressingbuttons Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 We have a secondary print server on a mac mini running papercut- whenever we try and print to it from our ipads it says that the printer is offline... Everything is online and working on the macs so not sure what is going wrong. Anyone else seen this?
Strawdog Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 (edited) Is everything on the same subnet and VLAN? Got Bonjour forwarding enabled on your network? Edited February 6, 2019 by Strawdog
Strawdog Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 We had some issues with AirPrint on iOS where many apps would automatically try to print to photo size paper and not allow you to choose the paper size but this never presented as the printer being offline so I doubt it's the same issue. 1
MatthewL Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Does the secondary server show as online/connected when you login to the PaperCut interface? - - - Updated - - - Also is the mobility print service running? 1
kidpressingbuttons Posted February 6, 2019 Author Posted February 6, 2019 where would I see the secondary server in the main papercut dash? Mobility print is no long running.
k-strider Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 yes i just found it a bit flaky.. there is on the mac under apps and papercut a disable and enable ios printing script/command i sometimes found i needed to disable it and then re enable it before they would stop reporting to being offline. 1
kidpressingbuttons Posted February 6, 2019 Author Posted February 6, 2019 that fixed it!!! Havent seen anyone mention this anywhere!
MatthewL Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Sorry misread the topic earlier, you cannot see the secondary server, I was thinking of site server. If it was me I would install mobility print on your main server and publish the printers to iOS via that, do away with the Max server. No real need for a Mac server now using mobility, so much easier to admin. 1
kidpressingbuttons Posted February 7, 2019 Author Posted February 7, 2019 only issue with mobility print is that if you are signed into a mac and ipad the accounting pop up could come up on either. Not great when you are elsewhere in the school and the pop up comes up on your locked mac. Thank you all for your help!
MatthewL Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 On the iPad it doesn't come up as you have to go to server:9191/client and use the web based client to select your one. You would generally only be logged into a PC or a Mac not both at the same time, regardless when it does pop up I have had it pop up on 2 machines I have been logged into and I accepted on the one I was working on and the other disappeared once selected.
