Fazza Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 I've recently started collecting Vintage/Retro Compaq Laptops (Contura and Armada range) so was wondering if there were any other Vintage/Retro Computer Collectors on here? I've started a blog of what I'm up to at www.retrocomputing.co.uk and I've still got loads of other things to put on there. Recently I have been playing a few DOS games on MS-DOS 6.22, re-learning how to do an Unattended install of Windows 98SE and lots of messing about with some floppy disks! 1
synaesthesia Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 Yup I'm annoyed that I missed out a real classic on Facebook last week, someone was selling a Tandy 1000HX. My collection is meagre currently but have an Atari 800XL and VCS, Atari ST 520E, Amiga 600 with upgrades and a Commodore 64C. 1

Thanks for that - that's a very dangerous thing you've said and I dare not even take a look at those sites as I've spent enough on eBay over the last six weeks as it is!!!
synaesthesia Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 Picked up a pair of amigas along with a load of crap from wilfords a few weeks ago for £80 and have been keeping an eye every week. Can be VERY dangerous indeed! Quite often they're just bundled with stuff called "various electrics" Keeping hoping to find a house clearance where someone has an atticload of computers they'd otherwise just throw away!

For me, my key item is the Sony Vaio PCG-C1XN - (12GB hard drive, 64MB RAM, 233MHz Intel Celeron, Windows 98). One of the first Sony Vaios to be sold outside of Japan. Mines fully working with all the accessories.

Mines fully working with all the accessories. I used to hate supporting those small Sony laptops (not least because of the 'support' Sony gave). 'My laptops slow' 'Yes, it is' Clever designs though, but they could never whack a powerful enough chip in them back in the day.

I worked with Sony on their Vaios between 2003-2009, used to see 100s of them a week, but such a low % actually had anything wrong with them 1
