Simple camera for room monitoring

I've been asked to get a price for a system whereby our DT Dept could set up a camera in a small room containing some CAD equipment (laser cutters and stuff) and monitor it on a PC or iPad or something. Any thoughts...? (We have a proper school CCTV system and I've asked the company for a quote, but last time we added a camera to this I think it was quite expensive and this needs to be as cheap as possible.)

Cheap POE/IP Camera for about 50-60 quid, free app on a PC/VM talking to the camera (such as Milestone Protect, or Contacam if you want really easy) and can access it via a browser.

 

I have 5-6 around the house/garden works a treat.

For really cheap, a web-cam and long USB cable. I've done it in our library; only used if an unaccompanied parent is waiting during child's' admissions interview.
